A proposed ordinance that would restrict placement of satellite dishes on Medford homes was sent to a subcommittee for further discussion Tuesday, City Clerk Ed Finn said. The proposed ordinance, brought forward by City Councilor Michael Marks, would allow dishes only to be placed on the front of homes if there are no other viable locations. The satellite service providers would have to sign a statement for the city's building department that the only possible location for the dish is the front of the home.

Her house is hardly the only spot where the saucers have landed. Along some streets in East Boston, satellite dishes protrude from nearly every house, with some multifamily structures decked with as many as eight.
