Product description

The patent pending Leaf indoor television antenna is a paper thin antenna that connects to your TV and mounts on the wall, behind a picture, or just about anywhere to enable you to receive free over-the-air broadcasts. Because the majority of television antennas on the market today are unsightly and tend to be an "eye-sore", design aesthetics were a primary driver in the design of the Leaf antenna. The antenna is black on one side and white on the other providing a variety of installation options. A surprising amount of study and engineering work went into the design of the Leaf TV antenna. It wasn't until one of our engineers decided to convert from cable television to over-the-air broadcasting that we realized that there were no high performance antennas on the market. This motivated the patent pending design of the new paper-thin antenna. The Leaf antenna was designed by experienced antenna engineers who have been designing antennas for the US military for years. Cost was also a primary driving factor in the design of the Leaf indoor antenna. After researching current antennas on the market, it became clear that the leading brands were significantly over priced. This drove us to develop a patent pending process that allowed us to develop a high performance antenna with minimal manufacturing cost. This allowed us to keep the price of the antenna to a minimum and pass these savings on to the consumer. Most importantly, we are proud to say that our antennas are designed and manufactured in the USA!

Turning Back the Clock to Understand Sex Differences - Scientific Computing

Sex differences account for some of the most spectacular traits in nature: the wild colors of male guppies, the plumage of peacocks, tusks on walruses and antlers on moose. Sexual conflict — the battle between males and females over mating — is thought to be a particularly potent force in driving the evolution traits that differ in males and females. However, the genetic processes responsible for producing such traits are not well understood, nor how they evolved from their simpler less elaborate ancestral forms. We tend to assume that each tiny step in evolution is an advantage.

Male water striders evolved antennae to grab females by the eyes - Discover Magazine (blog)

The worst sex you have ever had pales in comparison to what female water striders have to put up with. Put it this way: you have never been held down by your eyes. As the female skates over the surface of ponds and lakes, males will try to force themselves upon her. But in some species, males can avoid being thrown off with antennae that have evolved into antler-shaped restraints. They bend in on themselves and are loaded with an array of prongs and spikes that perfectly fit to the shape of a female’s head. Locke Rowe from the University of Toronto has been studying water striders for almost 20 years.

Commissioners nix cell antennae - San Jose Mercury News

The Albany Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday rejected a conditional use permit for a wireless antenna on a commercial building at 1035 San Pablo Ave. Following procedure, the commission continued the matter until its May 8 meeting so that city staff can draw up written reasons for rejecting the proposal. Commissioner Phillip Moss moved to deny the application, "based on the fact that we cannot find a way to make this a conforming application. The commission approved the continuation on a 4-0 voice vote.

Reef expert gets crucial tips in effort to be better angler - MiamiHerald.com

As chief of Miami-Dade County’s artificial reef program from 1981 to 1996, Ben Mostkoff knows the locations of many of the sunken boats, radio antennae, pipes and limerock boulders deployed along the coast. But that doesn’t make the Miami Beach resident a successful angler. “I have the tackle, the boat and the basic techniques, but I’ve had so many trips when the only thing I could depend upon was being disappointed,” Mostkoff said. After a couple of outings where he fished alongside Miami Beach light-tackle guide extraordinaire captain Bouncer Smith and caught nothing while Smith and his.

D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router - CNET

Unveiled at CES 2012 , the D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router is the first cloud-based wireless router I've reviewed. While Cisco released its app-enabled Linksys EA series a while ago, the cloud features of these routers are not available until later this year. That said, the DIR-605L's new feature, which allows users to manage their home network no matter where they are, proved to be a great extra in my trials. Other than that, the new router is a dead-simple single-band wireless-N router that operates in the 2. 4Ghz frequency.
